I believe the young men of Lost In Blue come from Illinois. I'm not sure though. And while I usually try to write an introductory paragraph about the band I'm reviewing, their biography on their website pretty much just rambles about some bullshit about The Blue Rabbit and fails to make a great joke with a Black Sabbath song, like "Rabbit Bloody Rabbit".

On to the music. The general tone is sort of a throwback to the more popular bands of the 80's while combined with slightly dreamy sections. The basslines have a funk/fusion feel to them at times, while the the guitar actually sounds like an old Metallica ballad, oddly enough. "Lonely Blue" sounds like Iron Maiden, while "Remain in this Dream" is a slower number that picks up a melodic thrash vibe after the unleashing of a quality guitar solo. "Dead Moon Rises" has a classic feel to it, perhaps suggesting that the members of Lost In Blue were raised with sound influences. With heavy emphasis on the adept guitarwork, Lost In Blue are sorely lacking one thing - a vocalist. It's all instrumentals on this EP. I could easily hear some triumphant power metal vocals placed over these songs, which might be a terrible idea unless they're able to dig up a classically trained singer. Without any vocals, though, I'm afraid it's a rather hard listen. The songs are way too forthright to stand on their own the way bands like The Fucking Champs manage.

For a submission, I'm again impressed - although that's not saying much to anyone who knows my feeling on submissions. If Lost In Blue can manage to come up with a vocalist and a more distinguishable sound/good gimmick, they'll have a fighting chance in getting signed by a larger label. Keep your ears open and maybe you'll hear of these guys in a few years - I wouldn't be surprised. This may be the best review I've given a submission in a while.
